Our Team

Grady works closely with individuals and business owners to develop wealth preservation, estate planning, and business tax strategies, including asset diversification, dynastic trusts, testamentary and lifetime charitable giving, and business succession planning. He works with high-net-worth families and their advisors to implement comprehensive family structures including multigenerational asset allocation and asset diversification, as well as the formation and operation of private foundations and public charities. Grady also has significant experience in partnership tax matters. Grady currently heads the firm’s Taxation and Estate Planning and Probate, practice groups.

  • Works with wealthy families, family offices and their advisors to develop and implement comprehensive family structures that address multigenerational asset allocation, asset diversification, liquidity, minimized income and transfer taxes, and protection of family wealth from predatory creditors
  • Employs specific strategies that include:
    • Creation and nurturing of family holding companies (FHCs)
    • Transfer of interests in FHCs using, without limitation, sales to grantor trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, and self-cancelling installment obligations
  • Creates and advises with respect to the formation and operation of private foundations and public charities
  • Routinely handles basic estate planning, probate matters, and preparation and filing of Form 706 Federal Estate Tax Return
  • Advises on partnership tax matters for real estate, and oil and gas investments
  • Represents entrepreneurs with respect to business structure and formation, and income and state tax considerations related thereto
  • Has represented hundreds of individuals with respect to the creation of charitable remainder trusts (CRTs) and has helped many clients terminate their CRTs early because of changed circumstances
  • Represented a national real estate company in the formation and operation of a 501(c)(3) organization to benefit its employees experiencing financial hardship
