Troy practices in our Commercial Litigation, Construction, and Business Restructuring & Bankruptcy groups. He  works closely with clients – both plaintiffs and defendants – in a wide range of complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts. His experience includes complex multidistrict and multiparty litigation through trial in a variety of matters, including contract disputes, construction and surety litigation, employment actions, mineral rights disputes, and fraud and deceptive trade practice actions. Troy has represented general contractors and subcontractors in multiparty litigation involving alleged construction defects, as well as in the filing and litigation of lien and bond claims. He has also represented major wireless telecom sector clients in litigation in 17 states involving more than 100 telecom entities. Additionally, Troy represents creditors, trustees, and corporate debtors in all aspects of the bankruptcy process.

In addition, Troy is named to the Texas Rising Stars list by Thomson Reuters as published in Texas Monthly.

Representative Cases

  • Represented general contractors, subcontractors, and insurance companies in multiparty litigation involving alleged construction defects
  • Served as national litigation counsel for wireless communications provider in federal and state regulatory litigation arising out of allegations of fraud and noncompliance with FCC regulations in 17 different states involving more than 100 telecommunications entities, including AT&T entities, TDS telecom entities, and a host of rural incumbent local exchange carriers
  • Represented creditors, trustees, and corporate debtors in bankruptcy cases in Texas, New York, Louisiana, Florida, and Illinois, involving the filing of voluntary and involuntary petitions, claim objections, negotiation of cash collateral orders, section 363 sales, assumption and rejection of executory contracts, contested exemption claims, motions to lift the automatic stay, preference claims under Chapter 5 of the Bankruptcy Code, objections to discharge, contested plan confirmations, and post-confirmation issues
  • Counsel for general contractors, subcontractors, and sureties in filing and litigation of lien and bond claims
  • Counsel for group of national IP-based communications companies in various state and federal lawsuits, state commission actions, bankruptcy-related litigation, and state and federal appeals, including at various times disputes with AT&T and SBC companies, Verizon, Qwest and CenturyLink, TDS Telecom, Paetec and Windstream, Global Crossing, Broadwing, various state commissions, and the FCC
  • Represented businesses in federal and state courts in a multitude of litigation matters involving allegations of breach of contract, fraud, wrongful termination, and discrimination
  • Represented mineral rights owners in lease and royalty disputes in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts
  • Represented automobile dealerships and floor plan financiers in contract and payment disputes and collection of collateral for defaulted accounts
  • Counsel for technology staffing company in various employment matters, including obtaining work visas and enforcing non-compete agreements.
  • Counsel for compliance software developer in infringement suit against rival software company
  • Advised nationwide peanut distributor on regulatory compliance issues and purchase and sale terms for e-commerce with vendors and customers
