GRADY P. DICKENS
Biography
Grady has represented many wealthy individuals and business owners with respect to estate planning and business tax issues, including asset diversification strategies, dynastic trusts, testamentary and lifetime charitable giving and business succession planning. In addition, Grady has represented financial management firms in various corporate and regulatory matters. Grady also has significant experience in partnership tax matters.
Representative Experience
- Works with wealthy families, family offices and their advisors to develop and implement comprehensive family structures that address multigenerational: (i) asset allocation, (ii) asset diversification, (iii) liquidity, (iv) minimize income and transfer taxes and (v) protect family wealth from predatory creditors.
- Specific strategies employed include:
- Creation and nurturing of family holding companies (FHCs);
- Transfer of interests in FHCs using, without limitation, (i) sales to grantor trusts, (ii) grantor retained annuity trusts, (iii) beneficiary controlled trusts and (iv) self-cancelling installment obligations.
- Create and advise with respect to the formation and operation of private foundations and public charities.
- Routinely handles basic estate planning, probate matters, and preparation and filing of Form 706 Federal Estate Tax Return.
- Advise on partnership tax matters for real estate, and oil and gas investments.
- Represent entrepreneurs with respect to business structure and formation, and income and state tax considerations related thereto.
- Have represented hundreds of individuals with respect to the creation of charitable remainder trusts (CRTs) and have helped many clients terminate their CRTs early due to changed circumstances.
- Represented a national real estate company in the formation and operation of a 501(c)(3) organization to benefit its employees experiencing financial hardship.
