DAVID L. WOODS
Biography
David joined the Firm in 2000 and practices primarily in commercial bankruptcy and litigation. While at the Firm, he has represented chapter 11 debtors-in-possession, trustees, committees, secured lenders, and unsecured creditors in various bankruptcy actions. He also has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of commercial litigation disputes in state and federal court. In 2007, 2008, and 2009, Texas Monthly & Law Politics Magazine named him a "Texas Rising Star."
David received his B.S. degree from Metropolitan State in Denver, Colorado, where he was a member of the varsity tennis team. After college, he received his J.D. degree from Baylor University School of Law School in Waco, Texas. While at Baylor, he was a member of the Order of Barristers and finalist in Baylor's Moot Court Competition.
Representative Experience
In federal bankruptcy court, David has successfully proposed and confirmed chapter 11 plans for debtors-in-possession and primary lenders in diverse industries, including technology, transportation and retail sales. In addition, David regularly advises and represents bankruptcy trustees, landlords, banks, trade creditors and equity holders in both chapter 7 and chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. He also has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants at trial or appeal in various bankruptcy litigation contexts including avoidance, claim determination, debt dischargeability and discharge disputes.
In addition to his bankruptcy experience, David has extensive experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in various commercial litigation contests. He has successfully prosecuted, defended or settled various breach of contract, fraud, deceptive trade practice, employment, and other disputes in state and federal courts throughout Texas.
